FIDM Grad!

Ahhhhh the real world. This place that I have kind of been aching to be in for a few years now. While no one really understands it, I couldn’t wait to be done with college and get out in the real world. Well alas, here I am.IMG_3270I have just graduated from FIDM’s Professional Designation program in Merchandise Marketing and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. FIDM truly has prepared me for the real world and I cannot say enough great things about the school. School had never been the easiest for me so the fact that I got a four year (3 & ½ because I graduated early hehe) degree and then decided to go BACK to school for another degree was a huge deal for me. During 9 months I took 15 classes and have never worked so hard in my life. While all of the schoolwork was WORK it never truly felt that way. It felt fun and just felt right. I couldn’t wait to get started on my assignments because I was so in love with what I was doing.

FIDM has TONS of group work. While at the beginning I was very nervous about that because I am a bit controlling when it comes to my grade (ahem I don’t want anyone bringing me down!) it ended up being perfectly fine. I made some amazing friends that I will keep in touch with over the years and met some of the most amazing teachers and professionals who still work in the industry.

If any of you are thinking about going to FIDM I would tell you to definitely do it. It is SO.MUCH.WORK. but it is completely worth it. I am not going to lie, I had a very minimal social life these past 9 months but I wouldn’t have traded it for the world. And don’t go to FIDM until you are POSITIVE you want to be there because they expect 200% from you everyday.

One of the coolest things about FIDM is that you are being taught by not necessarily trained teachers but individuals who worked or still work in the industry. These individuals are so knowledgeable so be sure to pick their brains and use them as networking opportunities. They are there to help you, not hinder you, remember that!

Once again I LOVED my experience at FIDM and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me! And of course a huge thank you goes to my Mom and Dad for supporting my dreams and giving me such great opportunities in life.
